The homogeneous distribution of fuel in the combustion chambers is extremely important both in terms of structural strength and combustion efficiency. A non-homogeneous fuel distribution within the combustion chamber can lead to performance loss in the engine, as well as the formation of unintended hot spots in the combustion chamber and turbine regions, irregular combustion acoustics, poor emission values, and additional mechanical stresses.
Manifolds are tested during development or mass production stages to ensure combustion optimization. Manifold tests are typically subjected to cold flow tests to check pressure losses, permeability values, and fuel distribution patterns. Especially in manifolds with multi-group injectors, manifold tests are utilized to determine injector groups.
