Power Measurement Testcell
Power Measurement Testcells are systems used to measure the power output of turboshaft and turboprop engines. Since the primary purpose of these engines is to generate shaft power, power measurement testcells are typically used as the test systems where the initial tests of the engine are conducted. Through these systems, critical data such as power output, specific fuel consumption (SFC), vibration, temperature, torque, and rotational speed are obtained. This data provides design teams with essential information about the engine’s performance and design.
Power measurement testcells are not limited to power measurement alone; they also enable the execution of various tests such as engine endurance tests, high torque tests, cold and hot start tests, and water and sand ingestion tests. These testcells can be installed in open environments or, with minor modifications, integrated into the test chambers of Altitude Test Systems.
The design of power measurement testcells takes into account numerous parameters, including the engine’s starting methods (Electric Starter, Hydraulic Starter, APU, etc.), the mechanical, electronic, and software compatibility of engine accessories, the types of tests to be performed on the testcell, the location where the testcell will be installed, and shaft connection characteristics.
